Why did you name your sock "LLOTTA LLOVE"?
I named them LLOTTA LLOVE because we always say that Pride Socks are like a big hug on your feet. I feel like the world needs a little more love and inclusion right now. There is a lot of crazy going on and I wanted to make a fun design that reflects love, happiness and llamas! Llamas are social animals and friendly, who love being in packs - their tribe is their vibe, and I can totally get down with that. :)
What was the inspiration behind the design?
My best friend's favorite animal is a llama. She has been living in Texas and I wanted to make something for her. The flowers represent each part of my personality. The sunflower is known as the happy flower, the dalia represents epilepsy - when I had seizures it helped me remember that epilepsy didn't define who I was. There is also a pink poppy flower that represents love for me. The last flower is a forget-me-not because I will never forget my friends and family.
What is the last thing that made you laugh?
My mom and I were dancing to a song from one of our favorite bands, and my dad started filming us without her knowing. She was flossing in her bathrobe when she turned and absolutely freaked out when she saw him filming. She screamed and ran out of the room before I knew what was happening. When I watched the video with my dad it was pretty funny, but not as funny as my mom chasing me around the house yelling "DELETE THAT".
What's your favorite thing about yourself?
I'm mostly happy. I have a "get-back-up-again" attitude. I'm a positive person despite my having epilepsy, cerebral palsy and IDD from a stroke that happened before I was born. I know my disabilities don't stop me - I'm an advocate for myself, but for others as well. To me, inclusion only works if we ALL belong.
What's a hidden talent/skill you have?
Drawing and illustration. I wouldn't exactly say that this is a hidden talent, but I am very proud of my art. I got interested in art at a young age. It just helps me with my mental health - it's basically a happy place for me to get to draw things that I like and love. I get inspired by all those that I see and watch and want to do something about it, so I just draw it out. I like to say that I'm a "happy artist, all heart". Dreamworks - if you're reading this - call me for a Trolls role!
